Bowen's Wharf Christmas Tree Lighting & Open House
Saturday, December 6, 2008
It's the most wonderful time of the year - twinkling lights, fragrant wintergreens, beautiful bows, and a most amazing Christmas tree on Bowen's Wharf. On Saturday evening, December 6th, join us for the 38th Bowen's Wharf Christmas Tree Lighting and Open House. Begin your holiday shopping and savor a special meal with your loved ones after visiting with some very important guests from the North Pole.
Come early to enjoy seasonal music around the shops (recorded music begins at 2:00), and stay through the evening as the festivities begin with the arrival of Frosty the Snowman at 4:30. Local musicians take the stage at 5:00 to lead the carol sing-a-longs. We then light the tree at 6:00, as the official beginning of Christmas at Bowen's Wharf! Immediately after the lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus sail into Bowen's Basin (harbor arrival is weather permitting). They join us on the Wharf, eager to listen to every child's special wish.
Bowen's Wharf restaurants remain open for warm holiday meals. Many shops will offer refreshments. All are welcome, FREE OF CHARGE! Santa and his friends will be waiting for you next year, rain, shine, or snow!
We thank Mayor Stephen Waluk for helping us light the tree in 2007. And, congratulations to the winners of the Polar Express giveaway:
Brian - Smithfield, RI
Peter - South Kingstown, RI
Ms. Turcotte - Tiverton, RI
Barry - Fairhaven, MA
These lucky winners each received a family 4-pack to see Polar Express 3D at the Feinstein IMAX Theatre, in Providence. We thank the Feinstein IMAX Theatre for their support of the 2007 celebration. We also thank ABC6/WLNE-TV for their fantastic media support.
Bowen's Wharf wishes you all the best in the New Year!
